Lakota West Athletic Department hosted a spring national letter of intent signing day on the first day of the NCAA spring signing period April 11th, 2018 in the Lakota West Community Room. The Firebirds boasted 11 student-athletes signing with their respective schools. In addition to the 10 students (link to story) who signed this fall, the nine who signed in the winter (link to story) and one early football signing (link to story), Lakota West has had a total of 31 student-athletes from the Class of 2018 sign on to play collegiate athletics this school year.

Andrew Brownley-Baseball– Otterbein University
Andrew Brownley is a second year varsity second baseman. As a junior, he had a .588 OBP playing in 11 games. As a senior starter, Brownley has continued his success with a .519 OBP in his first ten games. “Andrew brings consistency to our defense and a selfless attitude to our team. Otterbein is getting a player with a high baseball IQ,” said Lakota West Head Coach Greg Leurck.

Michael Medley-Baseball-Earlham College
Michael Medley was the starting third baseman as a junior hitting .320 with a .446 OBP. He also had a 1.40 ERA as a pitcher in 20 innings. As a senior, Medley has moved to first base after recovering from surgery. “Michael Medley has a great work ethic and has shown the ability to come through in tough situations. Earlham College is getting a player that can make a big impact on their program,” said Lakota West Head Coach Greg Leurck.

Aiden Reverman-Baseball– Thomas More College
Aiden Reverman is a second year varsity outfielder for the Firebirds. As a junior, he had a .480 OBP. In his first 10 games of his senior season, he has a .448 OBP. “Aiden Reverman is a coachable and hard-working player that continues to improve each year. He brings solid defense to the outfield and a bat that can make an impact at Thomas More,” said Lakota West Head Coach Greg Leurck

Craig Nixon-Baseball– Muskingum University
Craig Nixon plays baseball for the Cincinnati Riverbats. Riverbats Manager, Nick Brown, said “Craig’s athleticism and passion for the game greatly enhances our competitive environment within the team and contributes to our overall team success.”

Noah Mang-Track & X-Country– Notre Dame College
Noah Mang was a regional qualifier as a junior and second team All-GMC as a senior cross country runner. He was also a member of the regional qualifying 3200 track relay team as a junior. “Noah was a solid runner for West Cross Country. His dependability will serve him well at the next level. He continues to get taller and stronger and hasn’t realized his full potential. I wish him continued success next year.,” said Lakota West Head Cross Country Coach Chris Drumm.

Emma Cunningham–Track & X-Country–Ball State
Emma Cunningham has qualified for regionals on two occasions in cross country and first team All-GMC on three occasions. She also number 10 on Lakota West’s top ten individual runners single best times (19:41). “Emma has been a dependable varsity runner the past 4 years. Her determination and work ethic will serve her well running at the next level. I wish her continued success next year,” said Lakota West Head Cross Country Coach Chris Drumm

Dylan Wiesman-Lacrosse-Capital University
Dylan Wiesman has been a 3 year varsity starter for the lacrosse team. He earned honorable mention All-Region as a junior and was named the Lakota West Defensive Player of the Year. “Dylan is a very inspirational leader at West Lacrosse. He’s always pushing his teammates to strive for greater success. When on the field he never quits and pushes himself to the max. Dylan is well respected by the Lakota youth community and a positive role model to our youth players. Dylan is always striving at being better than he was the day before.,” said Lakota West Head Lacrosse Coach Dave Reed.

Cameron Wehby –Lacrosse– Capital University
Cameron Wehby is a 4 year varsity starter for the Firebirds at midfield. He was named Southwest Ohio Region Honorable Mention as a junior and was awarded the Lakota West Team Midfielder of the Year. “Cameron has been a great role model to our program at West Lacrosse these past four years. He always arrive to the field with high energy , positive attitude and very supportive of his fellow teammates both off and on the field. He leads by example when on the filed playing with passion and total commitment to himself and team.,“ said Lakota West Head Lacrosse Coach Dave Reed.

Griffin Manning-Swimming– University of Louisville
Griffin Manning graduates from Lakota West as one of the most decorated swimmers in Lakota West history. He’s a part of four school records (200 IM, 100 Breast, 200 Free Relay & 200 Medley Relay) and his 100 Breast time (55.92) has qualified him as an NISCA/Speedo All– American. As a senior, Manning won two events at GMC Championships (200 IM and 100 Breast) and he finished 6th at OHSAA state championships in the 100 breast after finishing 13th as a junior. “Griffin is one of the most competitive kids we have coached. He never back down from a competitive challenge. He has also made the bus rides of our away trips more interesting,” said Lakota West Assistant Swim Coach Dick Hamilton.

Joey Bradberry-Wrestling-Otterbein University
Joey Bradberry finished his wrestling career in the exclusive 100 win club. (103). In his senior season, he was a GMC Champion (160 lbs), district champion (152 lbs) and an OHSAA State Championship Qualifier. “Joe has really dedicated himself to become the best wrestler he can be. The hard work, sweat, and determination that he has put in have been REALLY impressive. He has wrestled around the country and made a commitment to the weight room,” said Lakota West Assistant Wrestling Coach Tim Kessler.

Anna Erftenbeck–Sand Volleyball–Texas A&M Corpus Christi
Anna Erftenbeck plays for the Ohio Valley Beach club team. “Anna has been a dedicated beach volleyball player in our program for nearly 4 years now and has always practiced and played the game of beach volleyball with passion and joy, she truly enjoys the sport. For a girl that is 5’11 and 18 years old, it would be hard to find a young lady with the volleyball IQ and touch on the ball she displays. We are so happy to see Anna continue her beach career on the next level and know she will be a great addition to the Texas A and M family.” said Ohio Valley Beach Volleyball Club Coach Rob Long.
