News release from Lakota West Firebirds AD Scott Kaufman:
Pending Board of Education Approval, I am very pleased to announce that we have recommended Lakota West Graduate Brad Gschwind to serve as the new Varsity Head Baseball Coach for Lakota West.
If you are at all familiar with the history of Lakota West Baseball, then you certainly know the name Brad Gschwind. Coach Gschwind was a member of the 2007 State Championship Team and is in the Lakota Athletic Hall of Fame.
Following his stellar baseball career at Lakota West, Coach Gschwind lettered all four years at Miami University where he earned his degree in Physical Education. Following earning his degree, he started coaching as a volunteer assistant at Xavier University when they won the Big East in 2014. For the past 4 seasons, he has served as an Assistant Coach at Northern Kentucky University.
When I contacted Bill Dreisbach to learn more about Coach Gschwind, he told me “If there was a Mt. Rushmore for Lakota West Baseball, Brad would be on it.”.
Coach will be setting up a “Meet the Coach Night” in the very near future. Gschwind succeeds Greg Leurck who is now La Salle’s baseball coach
