Senior Casey Bramble (’19), daughter of Kristy and Nathan Bramble, has verbally committed to play Softball and continue her education at Mount St. Joseph University next school year.

What led you to your decision to attend your chosen college?
Many things lead to the decision to choose MSJ. I loved how small the university was, loved how close MSJ is to home, and the softball program is exactly what I was looking for. The coaches are very encouraging both with softball and our school work. They understand that eventually, we are there for an education and softball is a bonus. Which I couldn’t be more happy and blessed with the opportunity to play at MSJ.

Do you know what you want to study?
Yes, I want to study High School Math Education.

When did this school come into the picture?
MSJ has always been in the picture for me. But I truly saw them as my school when my mom asked me “Casey, if you want to make a decision, your father and I support you completely.” When she said this it dawned on me that I had nothing to worry about and that MSJ was the exact right fit for me.

Have you visited the school? If so, when? How did it go?
Yes, I have visited MSJ in January of 2018. I loved the visit as well as the campus environment. I was able to walk the whole campus and look at the dorms as well as the education classes which was really cool to see where I would be. I was also got a good idea what it would be like to live and be on campus.

Did anyone help you through the recruiting process? What kind of help did they provide?
Yes, my parents, Coach Dave Burbrink, and Rob Shank. Coach Dave helped me getting started and helped to get my name out there. In addition, he told me how to talk to these coaches. My parents helped me stay on track and reminded me that I need to stay with it. Lastly, Rob Shank who always supported my dream and helped in any way that I could think of. He always encouraged me to follow my dream and not to stop till I got there. I cannot thank them more for helping because I couldn’t get through this without them.

What are your strengths?
My strengths are a hard worker, a perfectionist (which is also a weakness), and a leader.

What do you think you need to improve before starting college?
I think I need to become a better hitter under high-pressure situations and become physically stronger.

Please list any special awards, accomplishments, or distinctions you may have earned?
2017-2018 season runner-up state tournament, 4 year High Honor Roll, Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership Seminar (HOBY), and February Lakota Optimist Student of the Month 2018.

Coach Keith Castner says “Casey is an extremely hard working softball player that wants to get better every day. She has received the team’s Hustle Award the past 2 seasons.  Casey performs very well in the classroom.  The coaching staff is very excited for her and feel she will have a great senior year. Casey has been a major contributor for the Lakota West Softball Family on and off the softball field”.
