At the start of the race, it looked to be a three-way battle between West, Saint X, and Mason. But as the race unfolded, the Firebirds proved to be too much. The West speedsters, placed their fifth runner ahead of the Saint X number three runner and ahead of the Mason number two.
Zach Beneteau led the way finishing 4th overall. Cole Cronk placed 6th and Zach Plotkin followed in 7th. Kaleb Martin and Sergio Negroe rounded out the scoring for the Firebirds, finishing 9th and 11th. Newcomer Michael Lane finished 24th overall as he completed his first High School Cross Country Race ever. Easton Crowther was the 7th West finisher and displacer.
This was a great start to a highly anticipated season for the West XC program beating the #1 & #2 XC teams in the State of Ohio Friday night.
