Game Summary:
The 2021 season kicked off at St. Xavier with a huge rematch of the 2020 Regional Finals game in which St. X won with 27 seconds left in the game. The Firebirds came prepared to take on the 20th ranked team in the country and didn’t disappoint with their effort. West jumped out in front with 4yd TD pass from Mitch Bolden to Brennan Remy. The West defense held St. X allowing the Firebirds to jump out to a 14-3 lead with a 30 yard bomb to Alex Afari in the corner of the end zone. West would go on to hold a 14-10 lead going into the half. The second half was a difference story. West had a couple of unfortunate turnovers and St. X went on to capitalize sealing the game 31-14.
