The Lakota West wrestling team kicked off the season this past weekend and had many strong performances. The varsity team traveled to Findlay High School, where they wrestled some of the best teams in the state. Matthew Szczepaniak dominated the field, going 5-0 with four pins and a major decision win. 
 
Our junior varsity team competed at Wilmington High School and was led by Micah Reynolds, Nathan Mobley, and Nick Harris, who all went undefeated on the day. Finishing runners-up at their respective weight classes were Jeff Shultz and Andrew Dieringer.
 
The first-year team competed at Western Brown and took 2nd Place as a team! The team was led by Kaiden Mullins (1st Place), Bekhruz Mamarizaev (2nd Place), Porter Johnston (2nd Place), Lucas Maples (2nd Place), Zander Crooks (2nd Place), Braddock Wright (3rd Place), and Cameron Fiasco (3rd Place)
 
Finally, our girls’ team competed at Western Brown High School and placed 10th out of 35 teams! Kelsey King led the girls’ team, who went 4-0 on the day with four pins! The rest of the team battled tough all day. Many girls got their first season wins, while the majority reached the first win of their young careers!
The boys’ varsity team is back in action this Saturday at home when they take on the Fairfield Indians at 5 pm. At the same time, the Junior Varsity team will travel to the Sycamore Invitational on Saturday. The wrestling starts at 10 am.
