The varsity wrestling team wrapped up a successful three days last weekend by going 3-0 in dual action! On Thursday night, the Firebirds took on district rival Lakota East and came away with a 66-12 win! The team had many strong performances, but none were more exciting than junior Owen Bailey’s come-from-behind victory to start the dual. Down 16-3 late in the 3rd period, Owen took his opponent down to his back and got the pin with just seconds left on the clock. Then on Saturday, the team traveled to Walter Stebbins High School in Dayton to take on the Stebbins Indians and the Warriors of Huber Heights Wayne. The team scored two more victories, scoring 72-0 over Stebbins and 59-24 over Wayne. Stepping up big for the varsity was sophomore Nathan Mobley, who went 1-0 with a pin, and junior Jeff Shultz, who went 2-0 with two pins. The team returns to action this Saturday as they head to Rutherford B Hayes High School in Columbus for the Rieman Classic, a tournament that features top teams from all over the state!
