Congratulations to Matthew Szczepaniak, Kelsey King, and Kate Fenton who qualified for the OHSAA State Tournament this past weekend!

Matthew won the 144-pound District title on Saturday at Kettering Fairmont. He becomes only the 20th wrestler in Lakota West history to win a District Championship and the first one since 2011! He is now a 2-time state qualifier and will look to become a 2-time state placer this weekend! Also, placing for the Firebirds were Will Allen and Cooper Skelton who both took 5th place and are State Alternates.

Kesley and Kate each placed 2nd at the Girls Southwest Regional Tournament held at Harrison High School on Sunday. Kelsey has had a fabulous freshman season and is currently 28-1! This will be Kate’s second appearance at State and like Matthew, she too is looking to become a two-time state placer!

Wrestling begins on Friday at the Schottenstein Center on the campus of The Ohio State University.
